Flexible Contracts

Throughout the year we typically have four seasonal contracts to offer:

Winter
Spring
Summer Camp
Fall

We try our best to be as flexible as possible in regards to the start and end of your contract dates. Some staff stay on for a short 2-month contract while others have decided to sign on for several seasons in a row!”

Accommodations & Meals

We understand that most applicants do not live within driving distance of our site. So to make it easier for our staff team, we offer staff housing! Cozy cabins with shared rooms with private or shared bathrooms.

While there are guests/visitors on site, there will be meals provided for our staff team also. When we do not have any meals being served for guests, staff will have access to a kitchen area to store and prepare their own meals.

Develop New Skills

We have been extremely lucky to have staff members from all walks of life being a part of the Pine Crest family! This includes current and future teachers, Day Camp staff, high school, college and university students, and even people who have retired from their previous career and wanted to experience something new.

All staff members will be provided with a wide range of trainings to prepare you for your role - with many skills being completely new for you! From learning how to pitch a tent or paddling techniques at Outdoor Pursuits, knot tying and High Ropes facilitation as an Outdoor Educator and even new culinary skills in the kitchen, we provide a wide range of trainings and learning opportunities!

Camp Equitable Employment Fund at YMCA Camp Pine Crest

The Camp Equitable Employment Fund (CEEF) is a grant designed to decrease barriers of employment at camp, for people traditionally marginalized and underrepresented in the camping industry.

The fund is open to Canadians, ages 18 to 25, who are a part of a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) communities. Ideal candidates will have previous experience, or a demonstrated interest, in working with youth. Camp-specific experience is not required.

Successful applicants will receive financial assistance to offset the personal expenses of working in the outdoor industry. This could include: certification courses, personal gear, equipment and travel costs.

Fund Application Process:

Apply for a position at YMCA Camp Pine Crest and complete the interview process.
Submit the CEEF Application Form and Needs Assessment.
Receive your offer of employment, based on successful interview and reference checks.
Receive notice of any awarded funds before the need to respond to your offer of employment.

Funding will be awarded to successful applicants across Canada in the order received and based upon available funding. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply for funding as soon as possible after applying for employment at camp.

Volunteer Opportunities

The YMCA Camp programs help children and youth build confidence, skills leadership and environmental awareness. Our camp programs are offered across the Greater Toronto area and at Camp Pine Crest during the summer months, school breaks, and with Outdoor Education program being offered year-round.
